Entirely backed by esteemed hospitality investors, Shiraz and Nadeem Boghani and led by the visionary CEO, Salima Vellani, Splendid has at its helm three entrepreneurs who saw an opportunity to create an F&B company which would espouse the values of: exceptional service, passionate creativity, world class branding, the highest standards of ethical conduct and enlightened leadership.
Shiraz is a dynamic entrepreneur, praised highly for his role in the world of hotels and awarded ”Hotelier of the Year“ at the Asian Business Awards 2016. In the 1990‘s he was one of the first hoteliers to start developing limited service branded hotels in London and has been involved in over 25 such projects.
As current chairman of Splendid Hospitality Group, Shiraz directs the growth strategy of the business and has a clear vision of the Group‘s foray into several different enterprises. Splendid now has 20 trading hotels including the 292 bedroom Hilton London Bankside, the 256 bedroom Conrad London St James, The Grand Hotel and Spar, York and the 336 bedroom Holiday Inn, Wembley.
Shiraz, a chartered accountant, is also a founding Co-Chairman of Sussex Health Care an award winning Care Home Group which has expanded into 24 Care Homes and employing 1,100 staff.
Shiraz has a strong commitment to his community and plays a vital role in many charitable organisations and voluntary services. He has held a number of senior positions within the Ismaili Community including being a member of the National Council, the Chairman of the National Conciliation and Arbitration board and Resource Development Convenor for the Aga Khan University.
An ‘Old Boy’ of Merchant Taylors’ and a graduate of the London School of Economics. Nadeem qualified as a Chartered Accountant from the stables of PricewaterhouseCoopers gaining exposure to both listed companies and owner managed businesses in a broad spectrum of industries. Working in Assurance and Business Advisory services at PwC enabled Nadeem to gain specialist skills in auditing, financial reporting and internal controls.
As Vice Chairman of Splendid Hospitality Group, Nadeem is heavily involved with the strategic direction of the company including acquisitions, negotiating franchise agreements and securing bank debt. The Splendid hospitality group is an owner, operator and developer of a portfolio of 20 hotels with over 2000 bedrooms located in london and across the UK, ranging from limited service to luxury. The group enjoys the support of major franchisors such as IHG, Accor, Choice and Hilton. further sites are at various stages of development.
In 2015, Nadeem founded Splendid Restaurants with the aim of establishing a strong food and beverage platform in the UK across the premium casual, fast casual and fast food sectors. Splendid Restaurants has already opened 7 units across the Jack & Alice, Absurd Bird and Cha Chaan Teng brands with several more deals in the pipeline.
Nadeem spends much of his time working in a voluntary capacity for the Ismaili Community in the UK. Nadeem served for 7 years on the community’s Grants and Review Board, where he was heavily involved in budget and strategy reviews and management audits. Nadeem is currently serving on the Community’s Economic Planning Board, whose mandate is to improve the economic well-being of the Community by providing assistance, advice and support in the areas of business, employment and personal finance. Nadeem was also the Project Manager overseeing the redevelopment of Community Centres in Stanmore and Birmingham. He also serves as a Governor of St Helen’s School in Northwood Middlesex, one of the pre-eminent girls schools in the country.
Salima Vellani is a graduate of The London School of Economics with a BSC (HONS) in management science and an MSC in international finance. Salima has over 20 years of strategic consulting, corporate finance and venture capital experience with such notable institutions as Arthur Andersen Business Consulting at the Stanford Research Institute’s venture capital subsidiary.
In the last five years Salima has made a name for herself in the global branding business by working with some of the most well-known and significant brands in the world in various aspects of their global growth. Her focus has been on capital raising, corporate finance and brand strategy for major brands in emerging markets and has expanded her remit in to growth in both the UK and European markets as well.
Salima, a well respected and rare F&B entrepreneur with a global footprint and ownership across four continents brings her global know-how of the F&B space across the high end, casual and premium fast casual sectors to splendid and is the creative force behind the company's vision and strategic direction.
